The Ultimate Field Trip (UFT) is returning with a week at Walt Disney World Resort followed by a full weekend of fun at Universal Orlando Resort!

The Ultimate Field Trip (UFT), created by Carol Beth Scott of 3D Travel Agency, began in 2005 as a way for homeschoolers across the country to gather and learn while they play onsite at Walt Disney World Resort. Over the years, the event grew from its humble beginnings of 18 inaugural UFT family attendees to several hundred participating families in 2013. For two years following, UFT was offered as part of a travel package for smaller groups or individual families, and it celebrated a triumphant return to Walt Disney World in 2016. This year UFT is once again returning to the Most Magical Place on Earth, and it has been “plussed”–sprinkled with some extra pixie dust.
If you are a regular reader, you know UFT is one of my family’s Disney traditions. In fact, it’s the reason my family first traveled to Walt Disney World in 2006, and it is what sparked all our Disney passion. We participated in ’06, ’08, ’10, ’11, ’12, and ’13, with Magical Mouse Schoolhouse sponsoring several events from 2011-13 and providing goodies and giveaways. Magical Mouse Schoolhouse will again join our friends at 3D Travel Company this year…and like last year, we’re bringing along our good pal, Destinations in Florida!
What do we do at UFT?
At The Ultimate Field Trip, homeschoolers from all over the United States arrive at Walt Disney World during a specified week to learn while we play, to make magical memories, to meet new friends who share both our homeschooling and our Disney passions, and above all, to have fun! Maybe we will dine together, see a show or attraction, perhaps watch fireworks together, or even wear matching t-shirts. All gatherings are optional, of course; however, you probably won’t want to miss any!
When is UFT?
Dates for UFT 2017 are September 5 to September 8, 2017, at Walt Disney World Resort, followed by a weekend at Universal Orlando Resort September 9 to September 10, 2017.
What events are planned for UFT?
The Ultimate Field Trip tentative schedule of events includes the following*:
At Walt Disney World Resort
- Teen meets at Expedition Everest, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and Test Track.
- Family meets exploring the Ultimate Animal Stroll at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, new and exciting areas at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, a Tomorrowland Tour at Magic Kingdom Park, and goodbyes and giveaways for our group at Epcot.
At Universal Orlando Resort
- Two days of Harry Potter themed fun for the entire family.
- Teens and adventurous adults will take it to the next level of thrills and chills as a group.
